2024 Emmy Awards: The Complete List of Winners
The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards have finally arrived, celebrating the best television from the 2023-2024 season. This year marks the 76th edition of the ceremony, airing live on ABC. Interestingly, it comes just months after the 75th Emmys, which had been delayed due to the Hollywood strikes and took place in January.
On the comedy front, Hacks stole the show by winning the coveted Best Comedy Series award. Jean Smart continued her Emmy-winning streak, taking home another award for Lead Actress. On top of that, Hacks set a new milestone by breaking its own record for the most Emmys won by a comedy series in a single year, racking up an impressive 11 awards.
In the drama category, the historical epic Shōgun, based on James Clavell’s novel and set in feudal Japan, was the star of the night. The FX show cleaned up with 18 Emmys, including the prestigious Best Drama award. This came after Shōgun had already made waves at the Creative Arts Emmys, where it broke the record for the most Emmys won by a series in a single year.
Another standout of the evening was Netflix’s limited series Baby Reindeer. This dark British drama, which tells the intense story of bartender Donny Dunn and his unsettling encounter with a stalker, took home the top prize for Best Limited Series. Richard Gadd, the show’s creator, won for both writing and lead acting in a limited series. Jessica Gunning, who played Martha—the woman stalking Gadd’s character—also earned an acting award. The series is based on Gadd’s own one-man autobiographical show of the same name.
